Acting at the confluence of science, art and literature, the MHNC-UP’s Educational Services direct their action to different audiences, from families to school audiences, promoting a diverse set of actions that include guided visits, thematic visits, visits online, lectures, seminars, round tables, debates, workshops, didactic workshops, field trips, laboratory activities, colloquia, meetings, thematic birthdays, book launches, concerts, cinema sessions, specialized training courses, open classes, reading, among many others.
Through this offer, we intended to stimulate the participants' curiosity about the natural and cultural worlds, providing them with unique opportunities for discovery, interaction and intellectual enjoyment.

Located at the crossroads between science, art, and literature, the MHNC-UP’s Educational Service aims to direct its programme towards different audiences, anchored mainly on two units: the Hall of Biodiversity Hall – Ciência Viva Centre and the Botanical Garden of Porto.
The harmony between these two spaces, inside and outside, motivates all visitors – including schools – to encounter a unique experience of discovery, knowledge, and engagement with science and nature exploration. This is achieved by both guided tours and practical activities such as workshops, laboratory work, work in gardens and greenhouses, among others.
Leaning on a specialized team that includes teaching staff, researchers, and Museum specialists, the MHNC-UP’s Educational Service attempts to pay special attention to teachers and students through the theoretical contextualization of the tours, aiming to:
- meet the specific needs of the groups of visitors;
- strengthen the connections to the school curriculum;
- widen the horizons of the students and the possibilities of exploration of the subjects taught in schools via other educational strategies.
