Investigation

The MHNC-UP is an integrated research museum, having research as one of its core lines of action. In addition to collection-based research, the MHNC-UP develops and supports scientific and academic, cultural and artistic projects focused on areas of knowledge related its collections, as well as on the processes of communication established with its audiences and the dynamics of its public engagement strategy.

Furthermore, it collaborates directly with several research centres, museums, companies and other institutions inside and outside the universe of the University of Porto.

In addition to the research projects led by its team members, the MHNC-UP collaborates with researchers from all over the world, granting access to its spaces, collections and practices.
It also provides relevant support to all types of academic work, welcoming students of the most diverse degrees and areas of specialization.

Equally important, based on the scientific activity it fosters, which enables it to keep pace with state-of-the-art knowledge, the MHNC-UP offers other services to the community, as for instance specialized technical support and consultancy.
