A partir de 18 de dezembro de 2019 e até 29 de março de 2020, o Museu de História Natural e da Ciência da Universidade do Porto (MHNC-UP) acolhe, no seu polo central (Edifício Histórico da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, à Cordoaria), a exposição Tabela Periódica: para além dos 150 anos.
A estrutura da Tabela Periódica dos elementos químicos tal como hoje a conhecemos foi proposta em 1869 pelo químico russo Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleiev, tendo sido uma das mais significativas conquistas da ciência. A Tabela Periódica tem vindo a crescer ao longo dos anos com a descoberta de novos elementos. Passados 150 anos, a UNESCO e a Assembleia Geral das Nações Unidas proclamaram o ano de 2019 como o Ano Internacional da Tabela Periódica dos elementos químicos.
De modo a assinalar este aniversário, a Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), o Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) e a Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (FCUP) com o apoio da Sociedade Portuguesa de Química (SPQ) lançaram, no início do ano, o Concurso “Tabela Periódica: Para Além dos 150 Anos”, no contexto do qual toda a comunidade foi convidada a desenvolver, da forma mais criativa possível e sempre com o maior rigor científico, tabelas periódicas originais.
Os projetos desenvolvidos neste âmbito serão agora apresentados publicamente no MHNC-UP, permitindo que as comunidades académica, científica e escolar, bem como a população geral os possam desfrutar.

Entrada livre e gratuita.
No caso das visitas de grupos:
- Por uma questão de gestão de acesso e de segurança, todas as visitas de grupos devem ser marcadas previamente (visitas@mhnc.up.pt);
- O agendamento de visitas orientadas (grupos com no máximo 20 participantes) requer agendamento prévio (visitas@mhnc.up.pt) com pelo menos duas semanas de antecedência.
From December 18, 2019 to March 29, 2020, the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto (MHNC-UP) hosts, in its core pole (Historical Building of the Rectory of the University of Porto – Cordoaria, the exhibition Periodic Table: beyond its 150 years.
The structure of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements was proposed in 1869 by Russian chemist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleiev, standing as one of the most significant scientific achievements. The Periodic Table has been growing over the years with the discovery of new elements. One hundred and fifty years later, UNESCO and the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
To celebrate this date, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), the Higher Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP) and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), with the support of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry (SPQ), launched, in the beginning of the year, the Competition “Periodic Table: Beyond 150 Years”, inviting the whole community to find new and creative, and at the same time, scientific precise ways to represent the periodic table.
The projects developed in this scope are now highlighted at the MHNC-UP, allowing the academic, scientific and school communities as well as the overall public to enjoy them.

For group visits:
- For space management and safety reasons, all group visits must be previously booked (visitas@mhnc.up.pt);
- Guided visits (groups with a maximum of 20 participants) must be booked at least two weeks in advance (visitas@mhnc.up.pt).
