Maravilhário é uma exposição fotográfica que celebra e reconhece a doação como elemento fundamental na construção, consolidação e ampliação do património da Universidade do Porto, em particular no que diz respeito às coleções do seu Museu de História Natural e da Ciência.
O crescimento do património do MHNC-UP faz-se através de incorporações resultantes da doação de objetos e coleções privadas, mas também do depósito de objetos e coleções constituídas por particulares e por instituições de ensino, investigação ou outras, tantas vezes decorrentes de colheitas feitas no contexto de expedições e trabalho de investigação. São ainda relevantes as aquisições, as incorporações realizadas diretamente pelos membros da equipa do MHNC-UP e as transferências feitas por outros museus, diferentes instituições e mesmo pelo Estado.
Nesta exposição, destacaremos 22 fantásticos exemplos de doações que correspondem a uma muito simbólica, mas ínfima fração da extraordinária diversidade de doações que o MHNC-UP tem tido o privilégio de receber.

Wonderthings is a photographic exhibition that celebrates and recognises the donation of pieces and specimens as a fundamental element for the construction, consolidation, and enlargement of the University of Porto’s heritage, especially regarding the collections of its Natural History and Science Museum.
The development of the MHNC-UP’s heritage happens through the incorporation of many donations of private collections, as well as objects and collections entrusted to the Museum by individuals, researchers, and teaching institutions, often as the result of expeditions and research missions. Also relevant are the many acquisitions and incorporations from members of the MHNC-UP’s team, as well as transfers from other museums, different institutions, and the government itself.
In this exhibition, we bring you a selection of 22 wonderful examples, which are a symbolic but minute fraction of the extraordinary diversity of donations that the MHNC-UP is privileged to receive.
